Mercom Step by Step Repair Process
1. Customer creates an RMA in our RMA portal for one or more devices, and ships device(s) to Mercom.
2. On receipt of devices Mercom checks them into our Repair System and updates the RMA portal so that the customer can track the progress. Any discrepancies between the RMA and what we actually receive is passed onto the customer.
3. The devices move to a Repair Technicians bench where they load our software and test the printer. Any defective items are replaced and the printer is checked for full functionality. All repair details are recorded in our Repair System so that we have a complete history of the device.
4. After repair the printer moves to QA where the printer is tested again for functionality. If any defects are found, then it is sent back to a Repair Technician for re-work.
5. After passing QA devices moves to our Shipping Department where they are cleaned, packed and shipped back to the customer. The RMA portal is updated showing that the repaired device has shipped back to the customer and the tracking number is recorded.
Typical turnaround time (TAT) is 5 to 7 days, but we will notify the customer if any delays occur.
Common Zebra QLn420 Issues
One common issue that users can report with the Zebra QLn420 is lack of wifi. If a printer won’t connect to wifi then it can be just an issue with the printer settings, or something more serious. These printers have an internal antenna, which can come loose or fail, particularly in rugged environments. If checking the printer settings doesn’t fix the issue then most likely the printer needs to be sent off for repair.
Sometimes people run into trouble with software issues, the firmware can get corrupted. Also, the printhead will need to be replaced at some point in the life of the printer. Poor print quality is a sign of printhead problems.
The QN4 series of printers is very durable, but are often used in harsh environments and are often dropped or damaged. In these cases the printer may well need to be repaired, but the cost is normally very cost effective.
